Canada Day Celebrations in Didsbury!

Join Canadian Heritage and the Didsbury and District Historical Society as we host all sorts of fun, free, family activities to celebrate Canada's 159th birthday!

At the Museum
There will be treats in the Museum gardens outdoors, a Family Photo Booth, Outdoor Garden Train, and all the fabulous exhibits indoors, including the railroad and miniature car show in the Railroad Room, hosted by the very popular Mountain View Model Railroad "Train Guys"!

July 1st will be your chance to vote for the name of the Museum's moose mascot. The Didsbury area has experienced four tornadoes on July 1st - the earliest recorded was in 1909. The display at the Museum includes photos and eye-witness accounts, and we're enhancing that with a Tornado Simulator Exhibit led by Ross Ford Principal, George Thomson!

Our Canada Day Birthday Cake will be served at 1 pm by members of the Royal Canadian Legion #53 Carstairs. We'll join in singing our national anthem with Jaimee Reese and Land Acknowledgement. Dignitaries bring birthday greetings from Mountain View County and the Didsbury and District Historical Society.

2026 is an historic year for the Royal Canadian Legion who are celebrating 100 years of service to Canada this year. You'll be able to visit with Carstairs/Didsbury Legion Members in the Military Room, along with 100 year old WWII survivor, Bill Jepps of Didsbury.

The Didsbury Museum is smitten with our new mascot moose. The only problem is that the moose doesn't have a name yet! Everyone will have a chance to participate in our "Moose Naming Raffle", for a minimum donation of $1.00/vote.

Plus! A terrific Art Exhibit from our own Didsbury High School artists - art with a Soccer/global theme!

We'll have lots of souvenirs to take home too, as well as some "Make Your Own Souvenirs" in the Schoolroom - with a FIFA Soccer theme!

If you have any questions, just look for one of our 50+ volunteers - many will be wearing a red "Volunteer" apron!

At Moose Fence Park
Thanks to the folks with the Didsbury Market, and back by popular demand, there will be a full vendor market at the former high school grounds (aka Moose Fence Park). Moose Fence Park is the open field immediately east of Ross Ford Elementary, half a block west of the Didsbury Museum. The market runs from 12 - 4 pm, and features an amazing array of crafts, gifts, jewellery, and more!

There will also be many great activities for the entire family: face painting, and yard games, including a mini golf course with the Didsbury Municipal Library. There's also inflatables from the Zion Church!

Make sure you enter one of the passport stations to win a gift card!

And yes, there's food galore! Besides the birthday cake, frozen treats, popcorn, we are thrilled to have Didsbury's Pizza King join us with a menu designed for our Canada Day celebrations.

Last year you asked for music, and we have invited several musicians to busk at the park. If you know their songs, feel free to join in!

A Minute Matters First Aid will also be there to handle any scrapes or bruises any little soccer players might encounter.
